5. Selects the device name of player 1 from “Discovery Results” list and hits “Ok”. |
6. Player 2 waits until the connection is established. |
|
Troubleshooting
1. If connection cannot be established within reasonable amount of time (5-10 seconds) after player 2 finishes step 5, try repeating steps 3 to 6 on player 2's side.
2. If “Discovery Results” screen does not show any devices on player 2's side, make sure player 1's device has “discoverable” option set to “Yes” under Palm OS preferences, Bluetooth settings. Also, it may take some time for the devices to discover each other. It is recommended that player 2 repeats step 4 and waits for enough time until player 1's device shows up in the list.
3. If game lags during a multiplayer session, make sure handhelds are not far away from each other. Sometimes synchronization failure can cause slowdowns as well. Restart and try to connect again.

Troubleshooting
1. If connection cannot be established within reasonable amount of time (5-10 seconds) after player 2 finishes step 5, try repeating the same steps on both player 1 and player 2's sides. Both player 1 and player 2 should setup the same port number at step 5.
If you are trying to establish a multiplayer session over the internet, make sure neither of the devices is behind a firewall. If a firewall exists (e.g., one of the devices is behind a wireless router), general firewall constraints apply. You need to setup your network to accept connections through the port that is configured at step 5. Please note that GPRS doesn't allow peer to peer connection due to proxy, so at least one of the devices (the one that hosts the game) must have an internet connection through cable or a wifi card. For example, two Treo's with gprs connection cannot connect to each other directly over the internet.
Routers usually establish a firewall using a technique known as network address translation (NAT). Your router assigns a private ip address to your device (that usually starts with 192.168….) and isolates your device from the outside world. In this case, you will need to enable “port forwarding” to forward network packets to that ip address over the port configured at step 5. Please check out your router's documentation for information on how to setup port forwarding.
2. If game lags during a multiplayer session, and the connection is not in a local area network, it is most probably due to slow internet connection. Sometimes synchronization failure can cause slowdowns as well. Restart and try to connect again.
